The Colorado Trail

notes: this is the first draft of the profile.. so there's a lot of room for improvement. The route includes the cataract creek re-route, the clear creek re-route and the
cache creek cutoff. The mileage has not been calibrated with the any official sources, so it won't match up with the databook or guidebooks.

All of this data was calculated based on Jonathan Ley's "Main Route" as shown in his google earth file, which can be downloaded from his website: Phlumf.com.

Google Earth Placemarks (rough draft): this file has placemarks for all of the labels shown on the Elevation profiles. So if you see a point on the profiles, and want to know where it is.. you can find it using this file. Or vice versa. The placemarks are only approximations, since they were created using a program other than google earth... eventually I'll go through and make corrections so that it jives better with google's satellite images. Note: The placemarks are designed to show the place on the trail which is closest to the point of interest. So, I might have a placemark 200 yards to the left of a lake, rather than in the middle of the lake, because that is where the trail is closest to the lake. This is best used in conjunction with Jonathans google earth file.

Table of Distances (extreme rough draft): this is a simple text file with distances and other data between all of the points in the google earth file above. It's  pretty rough,  but I think it has the potential to become something more useful in the future.
